I am an indoor cyclist and have not ridden outdoors since teenage years - I am a spinner. I am getting ready to take spinning instructor certification and thought I need to start looking like I mean business. Plus the cross-trainer shoes I have been wearing are hurting my shin and calves. I decided on a pair of Shimano. I must have looked for an entire week at all the available brands on Amazon before settling on Shimano. I read reviews, compared what people wrote about fitting and stuff. Note that they don't come with cleats, so figure extra $19 to the cost of the shoes.
Shimano is a name I recognized; I have a freelancer photographer friend who shot pictures of Shimano bike and fishing parts in California (he is a cyclist), though I didn't contact him before settling on this. I ordered size 49, equivalent to US 13, which was too big and I normally wear size 13 shoes. But I took them to local Performance Cycling to compare with other brands and other Shimano styles. The gentleman that helped me said he wished he had these in his collection - this style in gray is just cool looking.
My replacements were size 48 and they came a day earlier thanks to Giantnerd fast service. I hope they give me full refund on the size 49 am sending back - will update this post later.
Update, May 17.
Still loving the shoes and have been using them for about a week. Fellow spinners at the club love them too. The 48/W is a good fit, maybe a tinsy-winsy big - nothing that a thicker pair of socks couldn't fix. Oh, I got my full refund on the 49/W I bought originally.
